The BYD SEAL is now ready to arrive in Spain, and this is what it will offer

The Chinese brand BYD wants to strengthen its presence in Europe and is preparing two models to sell in our market, the BYD Dolphin and the BYD SEAL.

If there is one brand that is generating a lot of buzz, it is BYD. The Chinese manufacturer is determined to conquer the European market and has focused on preparing models that suit the tastes of its future European buyers. And that is where they have worked to create the BYD SEAL. It will reach the European market in autumn, and we already know details about the model.

It is a vehicle 4.8 metres long, 1.87 metres wide and 1.46 metres high. It has a sporty design and will be ready to offer a good range thanks to its 82 kWh battery. Although it will be offered in two electric motorisation versions, the battery will be the same for both.

The range the model offers will depend on each version. The version fitted with the rear-mounted motor, delivering 230 kW, equivalent to 313 CV, will have a range of up to 570 kilometres. The second version, which will have two motors, one on each axle, offers a combined power equivalent to 530 CV and a range that drops to 520 kilometres.

With these characteristics, both models can reach a top speed of 180 km/h. The rear-wheel-drive version accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.9 seconds, while the two-motor version does so in 3.8 seconds. In addition, the battery offers the V2L bidirectional charging system and has a charging power of up to 150 kW. This will allow range to be recovered from 30 to 80% in 26 minutes.

As an electric vehicle, it has two boots. The rear one offers a capacity of 402 litres, while at the front there is another with a capacity of 53 litres. The drag coefficient is 0.219 Cx, thanks to the placement of the battery along the entire length of the vehicle structure. This makes it possible to reduce the height by about 10 mm compared with similar vehicles, giving the battery greater strength and protection.

The arrival of the BYD SEAL will come after the other announced model, the BYD Dolphin. Reservations can be made in the autumn of this year, although the first deliveries will not take place until late in the year or even early 2024.
