The Camaro ZL1 will be faster than the Mustang GT500, according to the Camaro’s own chief engineer, Al Oppenheiser.

Al Oppenheiser, the chief engineer of the Chevrolet Camaro, has announced that the Camaro ZL1 will be faster than the Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 from 0 to 100 km/h and has even cast doubt on the lap time set at the Nurburgring by the ponycar, since the people at Ford have never revealed the data obtained at the Green Hell.

According to Oppenheiser, both the simulations carried out at the factory and the time set at the Nurburgring prove that the new ZL1 will outrun the GT500, even though the Mustang has slightly more power and a lower final weight.

Although the Camaro has the advantage of the independent suspension and the traction control system that the Corvette has, against the solid rear axle that the Mustang still carries, throwing words into the air can be intimidating, but in the end they are empty without specific evidence.

This would need to be backed up by tests and comparisons between both vehicles to make any sense. Since these two cars are so dear to American sentiment, we would not be surprised to see a future comparison, which will undoubtedly arrive very soon.
