The Chevrolet Sonic RS is revealed ahead of the NAIAS
GM has brought forward the presentation of the Chevrolet Sonic, days before the Detroit show, ahead of the European version of the Aveo RS that will arrive later.

The American version of the Chevrolet Aveo RS has been revealed days before its premiere at the North American auto show, along with some of its features that make it quite similar to the Aveo RS that was presented at the same show last year.
Because of its similarity to the Aveo RS, the Sonic RS will share the same engine, the 1.4 Ecotec turbo with 138 CV, together with the customary modifications that have made the Sonic/Aveo RS the most aggressive in this range: the suspension is firmer and lower, and the brakes will be discs on all four wheels; it will also feature a six-speed manual gearbox, with an automatic gearbox optionally available as well.

For the time being there is no information on the availability of the model, nor on launch dates or prices for North America. It should be said that the appearance of the five-door North American Sonic RS will pave the way for the European version which is expected to be unveiled within a few months.
Its transition and sale in Europe is planned for quite a while later than the appearance of this Sonic on the other side of the pond. We will probably have more details on this during or after the Detroit show.
