The Citroën DS3 gets a facelift with more technology and new engines

Citroën is refreshing the DS3 with added technology, including LED xenon headlights and a new city braking assistant. The engines are also updated, as are the customisation options. All to keep it one of the kings of premium city cars.

Citroën has unveiled the restyle of its premium-focused city car, the DS3. An update that brings important technological novelties.

The DS3 also debuts new, more efficient engines, which also improve on the performance of its predecessors. They will arrive after the summer.

The overall design of the DS3 remains practically unchanged. However, Citroën introduces new features such as LED xenon headlights, a new lighting system that significantly improves illumination over the previous halogen headlights.

This technology consumes 35% less while lighting up to 75% more, which gives us an idea of the improvement in this respect. In addition, the rear lights also feature LED technology and three-dimensional shapes, something we can already find on other Citroëns such as the C4 Picasso.

It also introduces various driver assistance systems, such as the emergency braking assistant, capable of performing a braking manoeuvre in the city and avoiding a collision if speed does not exceed 30 km/h.
A rear camera is also added as an additional aid when parking.

As for the engines, the DS3 debuts both diesel and petrol units. If we choose petrol, we will have a new 1.2 VTi with 82 CV at our disposal, capable of consuming 4.1 litres per 100 km. It will be paired with an ETG automated gearbox.

If we are looking for diesel engines, Citroën has added two novelties to the range based on BlueHDi technology. The first is a 1.6 with 100 CV, which homologates record-low consumption (3 litres per 100 km), while the next, more powerful version (120 CV) has its consumption rated at 3.6 litres per 100 km.

Customisation options are also expanded, as Citroën now offers the possibility of decorating the DS3’s interior with new laser-engraved trim pieces, also debuting new alloy wheels of up to 17 inches.
