New three-cylinder petrol engines for the Peugeot 308 SW

The 308 SW becomes yet another model that Peugeot equips with its three-cylinder petrol engines. This range is called PureTech, and it stands out for combining efficiency and performance.
The three-cylinder engine fitted to the Peugeot 308 SW is the 1.2L PureTech 130 S&S, which records a consumption of 4.7 l/100 km and CO2 emissions of 109 g/km. It delivers 95% of its maximum torque (230 Nm) from 1,500 RPM and goes from 80 to 120 km/h in fifth gear in 12.8 seconds.
Last March, the Peugeot 308 with this engine improved these figures even further on the Almería circuit, consuming 2.85 l/100 km and covering 1,810 kilometres on a single tank.

The PureTech range currently consists of four available options: 1.0L PureTech 68 (Peugeot 208), 1.2L PureTech 82 (Peugeot 208, 2008 and New Peugeot 308), 1.2L PureTech 82 S&S ETG5 (Peugeot 208 and 2008) and 1.2L PureTech 130 S&S (New Peugeot 308 and New Peugeot 308 SW).
Speaking of these engines, one of the advances incorporated into the PureTech range is its special coating on the cylinder liners and pistons, called “Diamond Like Carbon”, along with the addition of a wet timing belt, resulting in lower friction losses.
On the other hand, PureTech blocks are characterised by being more compact thanks to a reduced number of mechanical components, which entails: fewer incidents, easier maintenance, less wear and a 25% reduction in consumption compared with four-cylinder engines. Likewise, the turbo versions of PureTech meet the demanding Euro 6 anti-pollution standard and improve consumption and emissions figures even further by reducing them by 18% compared with their naturally aspirated equivalents.
