Stellantis unveils the highly anticipated Citroën ë-C3, the 100% electric city car that is arriving with great anticipation in the European market. In a double communication move, the automotive group presented the first official image and revealed important pricing details without mentioning its name. The model is based on a heavily modified version of its platform and will adopt the silhouette of the new C3 sold in India and South America, although with different front and rear faces that refresh its design.

One of the keys to the ë-C3 will be the influence of the Oli concept, as was confirmed during the presentation of Stellantis’ financial results for the first half of 2023. Stylistic elements of the Oli concept will be present in this new vehicle, such as the angular “C”-shaped lights at the front and the new Citroën logo, generously placed in the centre of the grille and backlit. Furthermore, the height of the ë-C3 will give it the look of a small SUV, but it ensures it will not encroach on the territory of the upcoming C3 Aircross, which will be larger than its current version.

Svolt gives the ë-C3 109 CV

As for performance, the European Citroën ë-C3 will offer two engine options: one with 82 horsepower and a 42 kWh battery, and another with 109 horsepower and a 50 kWh battery, supplied by the Chinese manufacturer Svolt. The base version of the ë-C3 will offer a range of more than 300 kilometres, according to Citroën’s CEO, Thierry Koskas, who announced this feature last June. These figures suggest that the ë-C3 will be a very competitive option in the urban electric car market.

Regarding pricing, the ë-C3 is expected to be offered for less than 25,000 € in its base trim, which places it in a favourable position compared with other competitors on the market. In addition, the CEO of Stellantis, Carlos Tavares, has promised that this model will be available as part of a “social leasing” offer agreed with the Government, with a monthly rent of around €100. This promise seeks to make a reality the vision of President Emmanuel Macron of making electric vehicles more accessible to a broader public.

More details in October

The launch of the ë-C3 is scheduled for October 2023, and it is expected to be available for sale in the first quarter of 2024. Citroën’s electric vehicle aims to become the entry-level option for those looking to enter the world of electric mobility without giving up a modern and attractive design.

With the arrival of the ë-C3, Stellantis shows its commitment to electrifying its vehicle fleet and its bet on offering affordable and sustainable options for European consumers. The future of electric mobility looks brighter than ever, and Citroën wants to be a leading player in this new era of the automotive industry.
