Toyota took the stage at the Kenshiki forum, in Brussels, to present the first model of the upcoming generation of battery-electric vehicles, expected to reach the market in 2026: the FT-3e prototype, an electric crossover that fits into Toyota’s vision of providing battery electric vehicles (BEVs) that also act as energy and data transfer hubs, connecting with society in ways never seen before. The new architecture for battery vehicles has already been tested on other models such as the luxury saloon Lexus LF-ZC and the high-performance FT-Se sports car, recently unveiled in Brussels.

The FT-3e radiates elegance with an exterior design that fuses cutting-edge technology with simplicity. Its body lines and surfaces are presented subtly and efficiently, demonstrating that beauty can coexist with functionality. With enlarged dimensions, the FT-3e measures 4,860 mm in length, 1,955 mm in width and 1,595 mm in height, giving it an imposing road presence. Compared with its sibling, the bZ4X, it is 17 cm longer, 14.5 cm wider and 5.5 cm lower, but, for example, the charging point is mounted at the rear of the left side instead of in the front wheel arch as on the bZ4X.

A hub for energy and data transfer

The FT-3e is not just a vehicle; it is intended to be a connection node between mobility and the society of the future. Equipped with cutting-edge technologies, the prototype acts as a medium for transferring data and energy, enabling seamless interaction between the vehicle, its surroundings and the driver. In the cabin, we find an impressive set of seven screens. In addition to the typical digital instrument cluster and the display for the multimedia system, two vertically arranged screens flank the steering wheel, one on each side.

Additionally, the cameras replacing the wing mirrors transmit information to two further monitors located at the lower part of the A-pillars. As expected, the traditional interior mirror evolves from a simple mirror into an elegant screen.
