The Corvette Z06X gets ready for the SEMA

These days will be a showcase of prototype cars and a few more oddities, in keeping with this time of year and the start of the SEMA Show, that massive showcase of tuners and special models. If there’s one car that wouldn’t stay on the sidelines, it would be the Corvette, which arrives at the SEMA with a new model: the Z06X.
The Z06X not only boasts an unmatched look but, this one in particular, also has a slight engine tune. A Corvette that’s almost, almost a race car. And you’ll soon see why.
On the outside, GM presents an adjustable carbon-fiber rear wing, a polycarbonate rear window, a roll cage, racing seats, matching safety belts and a driver’s safety net. Add a driver hydration system, the kind we only see in race cars, and the customization could come across as showy, but there are reasons the Z06X earns a certain respect on the street.
GM has packed nearly 600 horsepower into the LS7, with improved engine airflow, a high-flow exhaust manifold and some well-known tricks of the trade, which don’t necessarily involve a deeper tune. Since this is going to be an ideal car for track days, the suspension has been prepared for a strong response on track and is fully adjustable.
