The CUPRA Formentor and León start production at the Martorell plant
CUPRA kicks off production of the new León and Formentor models, with up to 100 km of range, at the Martorell factory

CUPRA takes a step forward in its journey with the presentation of the new CUPRA Formentor and CUPRA León, two redesigned and improved models that represent the ultimate expression of the brand’s DNA. This launch marks a milestone in CUPRA’s history, not only because of the renewal of its iconic models, but also because it takes place within the framework of a profound transformation of the SEAT S.A. plant in Martorell, the industrial heart of the brand.
The new CUPRA Formentor and León perfectly embody the brand’s values. Their sporty and sophisticated design, combined with the latest connectivity and driver assistance technologies, makes them benchmarks in their segment. The CUPRA Formentor, available as a plug-in hybrid with more than 100 km of electric range, and the CUPRA León, with a wide range of high-performance petrol engines, offer a unique driving experience, with several versions to choose from so you can pick the one that best suits your needs.

The electrified future of Martorell
The production of the new CUPRA Formentor and León marks an important milestone in the transformation of the Martorell plant, which is becoming a benchmark in smart and connected manufacturing. The factory, which has been fundamental to SEAT’s success for more than 30 years, is integrating the most advanced technologies to optimise manufacturing processes and guarantee the highest quality of its vehicles.

An investment of more than €3,000 million is driving the electrification of Martorell, with the aim of turning it into a hub for electric mobility in Europe. At the end of 2025, the CUPRA Raval, CUPRA’s first 100% electric vehicle, will roll off the production line at Martorell. This model will be joined by other electric vehicles from the Volkswagen Group, such as the Volkswagen ID.2.all.
Impact on the economy and employment
The transformation of Martorell is not only modernising the plant, but is also having a positive impact on employment and the local economy. The production of the new CUPRA Formentor and León has an impact on more than 4,000 jobs, a third of the plant’s workforce. In addition, the investment in electrification is attracting new companies and creating new business opportunities in the region.

The new CUPRA Formentor and León are the starting point of a new era for CUPRA and Martorell. The Spanish brand is ready to keep growing and consolidating its position in the market, thanks to its commitment to design, technology and electrification. The Martorell plant, for its part, will become a benchmark for smart and connected manufacturing, contributing to CUPRA’s success and to the economic development of the region.
