The CUPRA Formentor eHybrid with 204 CV, the entry-level PHEV version, now has a price in Spain

CUPRA has just announced the arrival of the 204 CV CUPRA Formentor eHybrid in the Spanish market, where it has a starting price of 36,640 euros.

CUPRA continues to expand its model range with what is considered its flagship, the CUPRA Formentor. The Spanish crossover is one of the brand’s members with the most variants, with the entry-level eHybrid version being the latest to join the lineup. With this in mind, the Formentor now has a new option that focuses on both sportiness and environmental care thanks to its plug-in hybrid configuration.

Until now, CUPRA offered only the top-of-the-range CUPRA Formentor eHybrid, which combines a combustion engine and an electric motor that together deliver 245 CV and 400 Nm of torque. However, given the growing demand for PHEV vehicles, the Spanish brand has decided to offer a new variant.

It keeps the same name, a styling similar to that of the CUPRA Formentor VZ and a cabin with the latest technology. The eHybrid variant comes with 18-inch wheels, Full-LED headlights, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, tri-zone climate control, keyless entry and start, and a 10-inch touchscreen that can integrate your smartphone via Apple CarPlay or Android Auto.

However, the most interesting aspect of this entry-level CUPRA Formentor PHEV lies in its mechanical specification. Although it shares the same basis as the top-of-the-range eHybrid, namely a 150 CV 1.4 TSI four-cylinder petrol engine and an electric motor, output drops to a more than respectable 204 CV and 350 Nm of torque, figures that allow the 0 to 100 km/h sprint to take 7.8 seconds and a top speed of 205 km/h.

To this combination we must add a 13 kWh battery. Thanks to it, the CUPRA Formentor eHybrid offers an electric-only range of 55 kilometres according to the WLTP homologation cycle. At the same time, its homologated combined consumption is 1.2 litres per 100 kilometres and CO2 emissions drop to 27 grams, which means lower than the 245 CV Formentor eHybrid.

Sales are already open in Spain, where it has a starting price of 36,640 euros. In this way, CUPRA is about to complete the Formentor range, pending the much-anticipated VZ5, arriving on 22 February, and the 150 CV diesel variant.
