The current situation of Saab

For those of our readers who may not yet be up to date with the latest news about Saab, we should remind you that the company is currently bankrupt and placed under administration by the Swedish authorities which appointed administrators to the process to secure the recovery of its creditors’ claims.
According to those at Saabsunited (who are following the company’s news almost minute by minute), the administrators are currently gathering information about the factory, inventories and capacities. Meanwhile, the government is focusing its efforts on paying the workers and trying to do so before Christmas.
There are also cars left on the production lines, cars that no longer have an owner since the orders have been cancelled and everything has come to a complete halt. Specifically, there are 7 or 9 convertibles, as well as a number of 9-3s and 9-5s, probably the last Saabs ever built.
The case is even more dramatic for the 9-5 SportCombi, which is not even homologated as a vehicle, for the time being there are only test units that hold prototype homologation, meaning they cannot be sold.
In principle, a production trial of 7 or 10 cars was going to be carried out; some parts are missing but they are not a major problem for finishing the cars that are still on the production line. Even so, we are not going to give everything up for lost, because it seems that Saab has suitors, the bankruptcy situation is reversible, and the Chinese have already made moves (a delegation from Youngman has arrived in Trollhättan) as well as some other administrations (such as the Turkish embassy, which has met with the Swedish industry department).
