The design department of Audi will present seven more variants of the A1 to suit every taste

Stefan Sielaff is head of design at Audi and one of the mentors behind the Audi A1, the car that is drawing all the attention to the brand, alongside the R8 GT. The latest work by Sielaff and his team of designers has been a customisation of seven A1 models, each dedicated to a different theme, which will be presented at an annual tuning event in Austria called Woorthersee.

The models have been named A1 Competition Kit, A1 Follow Me (Taxi), A1 Wasserwacht, A1 Pickerljaeger, A1 Fashion and A1 Hot Rod. Of all of them, one of the most successful is the model that recalls Audi’s official colours on the Audi Quattro Group B rally car. There is also the police car variant and another built to be used as a taxi, while there is no shortage of a model with flames painted on its sides, although I don’t think tyres with white sidewalls are really suited to the A1.

For football fans, a commemorative FC Bayern model has been created to celebrate the club winning the UEFA Champions League. This car carries the number and name of one of the German team’s forwards, Arjen Robben. It seems that Sielaff, besides being one of the most renowned designers of the moment, is also a big football fan.

Either way, and although these models are said to be available in Germany at the time of the A1’s launch, this whole showcase is little more than an anecdote, almost a hobby for Stefan Sielaff. Audi says this proves the Audi A1 can be turned into a one-of-a-kind vehicle, but it looks more like one more way of fitting in at the Woorthersee.
