The embarrassing failed

The driver of the new Porsche 911 GT2 RS at the Goodwood Festival of Speed failed in his attempt at a slide during his demonstration run.

At the Goodwood Festival of Speed we saw an endless parade of new models, among them the new Porsche 911 Turbo S Exclusive Series and the Porsche 911 GT2 RS. The latter – the 911 GT2 RS – has become the most expensive sports car in the Bavarian brand’s range (€326,934), as well as the most powerful: it offers 700 CV of power, accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.8 seconds and reaches 340 km/h.

As one would expect, the fastest Porsche in the brand’s history was one of the models that generated the most anticipation at the British festival, especially when its driver performed one of the most deplorable donuts in history.

As we can see in the video above, the driver in question was in the area reserved for donuts when he made his failed attempt. Logically, the car is more than capable with its 700 CV to perform a proper donut, and since we assume the driver responsible for the manoeuvre should not lack skill at the wheel, the explanation for this embarrassing scene could lie in the traction and stability control (the so-called PSM; Porsche Stability Management). Had the car had PSM activated, the system would have cut the car’s acceleration upon detecting that the rear axle was losing grip; in other words, the driver would not have been able to slide under power with PSM activated.

Nevertheless, it is also possible that the driver of the 911 GT2 RS simply didn’t dare to perform a donut in such a limited space, bearing in mind that it is a car worth more than 300,000 euros.
