EQC Mercedes Electric Cars SUV
The EQC SUV finally disappears from the Mercedes-Benz electric vehicle lineup
The German manufacturer ended production of the EQC a little over a year ago, so until now it has been selling the units that remained in stock.
If you have recently visited the Mercedes-Benz website, you may have noticed a detail: one of the manufacturer’s electric models has disappeared. According to the latest reports, the EQC SUV is no longer available in the Mercedes-Benz lineup in several European markets, such as Germany and the United Kingdom, and also here in Spain. This information was soon confirmed by a representative of the company itself.
In 2022, rumours began to circulate suggesting that EQC production at the Bremen plant would stop within a little over a year. At the time, Mercedes-Benz did not want to comment, stating that company policy was not to comment on “speculation regarding future model series and their planning”. That rumour, however, eventually came true, and Mercedes-Benz ended EQC production in the second quarter of 2023.

The end of production did not, however, mean the end of sales, since it was still possible to order the units left in stock. The German manufacturer has also been offering these remaining EQC units with attractive discounts of up to 24 percent, at least until earlier this year. The removal of this electric SUV from the Mercedes-Benz lineup now suggests that the manufacturer has finally managed to place all those remaining stock units on the market.
Will the EQC have a successor?
The recent change in the naming convention used by Mercedes-Benz for its new electric models suggests, on the other hand, that we probably will not find a new electric SUV in the manufacturer’s lineup under the EQC name. Mercedes-Benz has already dropped the EQ designation for the electric G-Class. The most recent electric model from the brand is sold as the G580 with EQ technology rather than as EQG 580, so the same pattern will likely apply to the new electric C-Class SUVs, which will probably be known as C-Class with EQ technology.

The end of EQC production may also reflect a move towards model consolidation and production optimisation. With growing competition in the electric vehicle market, manufacturers are constantly reassessing their strategies to stay competitive. Mercedes-Benz could look for new ways to differentiate its products and take a different path. It remains to be seen, therefore, whether a new electric SUV to replace the EQC will eventually appear in the German manufacturer’s lineup.
