The Volkswagen Polo GTI has undergone a facelift that has improved some of its specifications ahead of its market launch in 2015. We will, of course, see all these small changes introduced to the model at the start of October at the 2014 Paris Motor Show.

The exterior will feature some minor modifications, with the addition of different bumpers and the inclusion of LED daytime running lights in the headlight unit. Inside, we will also find some differences from the current model, as it will have a new design for the instrument panel, the controls on the centre console and the steering wheel.

The biggest change is in the new engine fitted to the Volkswagen Polo GTI. It is a 1.8 turbocharged engine that replaces the previous 1.4-litre unit. This four-cylinder engine belongs to the Volkswagen EA888 family and produces 190 CV and a maximum torque of 320 Nm.

With these figures, the Polo GTI achieves a power increase of 10 CV and 70 Nm over its predecessor. The new engine offers a top speed of 236 km/h and a 0-100 km/h acceleration of 6.7 seconds, slightly quicker than the current model.

The Polo GTI currently on sale features a DSG dual-clutch transmission, although the new version will offer the option of a six-speed manual gearbox, for those who enjoy driving with three pedals.

¿DIÉSEL? Corrige esa aberración, por favor.
