The Ferrari Enzo abandoned in Dubai and others, up for auction

Last year we lamented the fate of this Ferrari Enzo that had been abandoned at Dubai airport. After almost two years exposed to the heat and the sun of Dubai, it has finally been decided that the Enzo will go to auction tomorrow.

But in addition, the Dubai authorities have also decided to auction off the other more than 3,000 abandoned vehicles across its territory, among which are other vehicles of very exclusive brands and prices, bought during the country’s boom that has been halted by the global crisis; three other Ferrari and some Porsche, among other luxury cars, await the moment when the gavel falls.

The reason behind these abandonments seems to be that Dubai’s justice system punishes debtors criminally and, evidently, with prison for those accused of fraud. Many of these vehicles are abandoned in the Dubai international airport car park or on the airport access road, before leaving the country. In the case of the Enzo, its owner was identified and turned out to be a British citizen who fled the country in the same way as many others for whom the “Dubai dream” did not work out.
