The Fiat 500 will introduce 17 new models and a 900 cc turbo engine for the 500 in 2010

News from the Fiat 500 side. The Italian brand is preparing a large number of new releases for next year, presenting a tiny 900cc two-cylinder turbo engine for the small 500 and 17 new models. The news was announced by Sergio Marchionne himself before members of the Italian Government.

Despite what may seem like an engine of less than 1 litre, Fiat will take advantage of MultiAir technology so that this powerplant matches existing four-cylinder engines in terms of power. This would amount to Italian-style downsizing, or in the manner of Fiat with small engines.

There will be two turbo variants: one tuned to 80 horsepower and the other pushed to 104 CV. A naturally aspirated version delivering around 65 horsepower is also expected. This version of the 500 will become the brand’s entry-level model, alongside the Fiat Panda and Punto Evo.

At the same time, while they prepare the arrival of the 500 in the USA, 17 new models will be launched by the Fiat Group between 2010 and 2011, plus 13 updates for other models, making it the Fiat model with the most variants offered to the public.
