The Fiat Panda Natural Power was named the Greenest Car of 2013

The Greenest Car of 2013 award, sponsored by the magazine Schweizer Illustrierte, has been presented to the Fiat Panda Natural Power, chosen as the Greenest Car of 2013, beating nine other candidates, including some hybrid and electric versions.

This version of the Panda has been designed specifically for use with methane. It is the first car in the world equipped with a two-cylinder turbo engine (the TwinAir) running on methane and petrol. It offers high specific power and high torque, combining a reduction in consumption with wider track widths and a rear torsion-beam suspension.

Available in 4- or 5-seat versions and with Lounge trim, the new Fiat Panda 0.9 TwinAir Turbo Natural Power, with 80 CV, delivers low CO2 levels (86 g/km) and limited consumption of 3.1 kg/100 km on the combined homologation cycle when running on methane. Its range is even better than that of the Panda Classic 1.4 Natural Power, despite the increase in performance.

The two methane tanks have been positioned under the vehicle’s floor pan, so that the boot capacity remains the same as in the petrol and diesel versions.

From the point of view of everyday use and European legislation, being one of the greenest cars has its advantages: it has access to city centres with environmental traffic restrictions, and it can also use underground car parks and travel on ferries.
