The Fiat Uno will not reach Europe

Today the Italian publication Quattroruote reports that the news that emerged a few days ago from Autocar, announcing that the Brazilian version of the Fiat Uno would be sold in Europe, was “categorically” denied by Fiat in Italy. It is said that the model Fiat will present next year is none other than the replacement for the Palio.

It seems that there was a kind of confusion at Autocar between the Fiat Uno and the Fiat Palio, according to a free interpretation of the future plan presented in April by Sergio Marchionne, regarding the future direction of the Fiat-Chrysler group.

As a final clarification, Quattroruote confirms, apparently from a very reliable source, that the car that will replace the Palio will be built at the Kragujevac factory in Serbia, and will be destined for Europe, Canada and Mexico. The one that will indeed reach Europe would be the next Fiat Panda, in mid-2011, a model that would have risked overlapping with the new Fiat Uno built in Brazil.
