Ford’s next mini-van for Europe, will be launched in early 2012, as confirmed by a source very close to the Blue Oval brand. The Ford B-Max will be the younger sibling of the Ford S-Max, the C-Max and the Galaxy, although it will be the first vehicle of this type built on the Fiesta platform.

In this way, Ford is keeping its word about having several models available that would use the global B architecture, and the B-Max will be the first. This vehicle will be presented at the Geneva show next year, and it is reported that at least the prototype version will seat five and have sliding rear doors.

But for the new model to arrive, another model will have to be retired. The B-Max will replace the Ford Fusion, which has already been on the market for 8 years and has recently seen rather low sales. Supposedly, the B-Max is meant to fill a gap currently being exploited by the Opel Meriva or the Citroën C3 Picasso.

In addition to the confirmation and its appearance at the Geneva show, it should be noted that the new B-Max will be manufactured in Craiova, Romania, in a former plant that once belonged to Daewoo and that Ford bought with this model’s future in mind.
