The Ford E-Transit receives the Euro NCAP Gold Medal thanks to its driver assistance systems. Congratulations!

The Ford e-Transit has just received the Euro NCAP Gold Medal for its driver assistance systems. The fully electric version of the iconic Ford Transit has just become the second two-tonne vehicle to receive a gold medal from the safety organisation. In addition, the Ford Transit Custom, a one-tonne van, has also received this award. According to the oval brand itself, “the complete set of technologies can help minimise the driver’s workload during long hours in the cab and help reduce downtime, repairs and insurance costs”.
The new Ford e-Transit has received the Euro NCAP Gold Medal for its “comprehensive suite of driver assistance systems”. As confirmed by the manufacturer, this award is the result of an assessment of the technologies that make up the autonomous emergency braking§h9# system, the lane keeping assist, traffic sign recognition and occupant monitoring.

Stuart Southgate, Director of Safety Engineering at Ford Europe, has stated that “Euro NCAP is synonymous with vehicle safety, and the organisation extending its gold medal to the Ford e-Transit is a testament to the brand’s commitment to customer safety across its entire commercial vehicle range”.
Ford e-Transit, the revolution has arrived in commercial vehicles
Likewise, the Director of Safety Engineering of the oval brand has added that “the advanced driver assistance systems of the new Ford e-Transit help protect drivers and other road users, and support operators looking to maximise uptime while limiting insurance and accident repair costs”.
It is important to mention that the Ford e-Transit features driver assistance technologies including the forward collision warning with pedestrian detection, intelligent adaptive cruise control with traffic sign recognition, blind spot information system with lane change warning and assist, cross-traffic assist, a 360-degree camera and even reverse brake assist.
The safety organisation put the one-tonne van through various tests such as braking for children running into the road, cyclists, pedestrians and other scenarios that can occur every day in cities. The oval brand wanted to point out that “the E-Transit’s gold medal extends Ford’s leadership in safety technology for commercial vehicles. The Transit Custom has also been awarded the gold medal, making Ford the only manufacturer with vans holding a gold medal in the 1-tonne, 2-tonne and EV segments. The company is already testing the E-Transit in typical daily operations with selected customers across Europe, and customer deliveries are scheduled to begin in spring 2022″.
