The Ford Focus RS offers almost 400 hp thanks to Mountune's tuning
The British tuner presents a performance kit for the Ford Focus RS that costs around 4,000 euros.
Since Ford launched the third generation of the Focus RS in 2015, everyone has been waiting for an even more radical version of the American compact sports car to reach the market, and not just a special edition based on looks like the one the brand presented a few months ago. The RS500 version was the best answer to our pleas, an interpretation of the Focus RS that could reach close to 400 hp, according to rumours. Unfortunately, the model never went into production, but we have good news on this front: the British tuner Mountune has presented a new performance kit for the Focus RS that will satisfy the desires of the most enthusiastic drivers.

The increase in performance: 45 hp and 90 Nm of torque
Taking advantage of the Ford Fair Show held at the Silverstone circuit (Northamptonshire, United Kingdom), the tuner Mountune has presented a power upgrade package for the Focus RS Mk3 that can be added to the vehicle piece by piece (for customers who have already customised part of their car) or as a complete pack. Thanks to it, the Ford Focus RS sees its power increased to 394 hp (45 hp more than the standard model). The same goes for its torque, whose 470 Nm become a generous 560 Nm.

Price of almost 4,000 euros
The complete Mountune pack for the Ford Focus RS costs 3,495 pounds (3,853 euros) and comes with a high-flow induction kit, an optimised turbo recirculation valve, a new intercooler, a recalibrated (ECU) control unit, several components in the exhaust system, a chamber that suppresses part of the sound and, of course, several Mountune badges placed around the car.
Unlike other Mountune performance kits, this one is not approved by Ford, so the manufacturer’s warranty would cease to be valid the moment we decided to fit the kit to our Focus RS.
With Mountune the Focus RS could exceed 400 hp
Mountune also offers an exhaust manifold that would allow the Ford Focus RS to break the 400 hp barrier. “For those who want to go beyond 400 hp with their Focus RS, Mountune also sells several improvements to the engine block, along with a reinforced gearbox and a set of forged pistons and connecting rods. If you want to go even further with the car, it is possible to build a true monster,” a Mountune representative stated during the event held at Silverstone.
