One of the segments that is currently enjoying the greatest boom is that of small city cars. Small, manageable cars, with a DNA designed for the city and with enough capacity to comfortably accommodate their passengers. Ford has just launched the Ka+, an evolution of the American small city car that improves on the model it is based on in terms of elegance and capacity, and above all seeking the greatest comfort for its occupants.

This is one of its main features compared with the Ford Ka. It is a vehicle designed for five occupants, one more than its predecessor. And furthermore, despite its small size (it does not reach four metres), the occupants of the rear seats will enjoy considerable legroom, thanks to a slightly increased space in this area. It also features 21 storage spaces, spread throughout the cabin and the boot.

The length of the Ka+ is somewhat shorter than that of the Fiesta, although it has 29 millimetres more height. Its boot is 270 litres, enough for everyday needs, although it can be increased considerably by folding down the rear seats, which can be folded in a 60/40 split.

Unlike the Ford Ka, this model is approved for five occupants. On the exterior, you can find the typical grille that marks the design signature of the American brand today. On the bodywork there are small chrome and black details that add a touch reinforcing the model’s elegant character. Inside, the decorative details have also been taken care of to offer a modern and urban finish. The grainy finish around the controls, the chrome accents at various visible points throughout the cabin and the dark grey tone that dominates the design help give the image of an attractive, modern car designed for the city.

The 1.2-litre engine is offered in two versions, one of 70 CV and another of 85 CV, both paired with a 5-speed gearbox. Nothing spectacular, but it should be remembered that this is a car designed for getting around the city and for short journeys. Despite being a small car, it features the voice-activated entertainment and information system. As a curiosity, it also includes the Ford MyKey system, which helps parents monitor the journeys of younger drivers for their safety.

The Ford Ka+ is now available at Spanish dealerships, with a starting price of 8,850, and the current colours will soon be joined by the Black and White version, which will combine both colours on the bodywork.
