The Ford Transit Connect for the North American market will be manufactured in Valencia, because production in the US is saturated, while in Spain it does not exceed 50%.

Due to the vagaries of the economy, at the moment American factories of Ford and of many other brands are running at full capacity, while in Europe, where it matters most to us, in Spain, there are surplus factories and workers, as production capacity is at rock bottom.

Given this situation, Ford has wasted no time and has decided that the Ford Transit Connect intended for the North American market, the Tourneo Connect in Europe, will be built at the company’s facilities in Valencia.

While North American plants are working at 114% of their production, in Spain we are at 50% in the case of Ford. Contrary to the policy that almost everyone is considering of closing plants, Ford has decided to make an exception that is more than welcome in the case of the Transit Connect van.

The new van will be unveiled at the Los Angeles show in a few days and will begin deliveries in North America within a year, so at Almussafes work will begin on adapting part of the production line to receive the new model, which will join the Mondeo, the S-Max and the Galaxy.
