The TV-famous Gas Monkey Garage Ferrari F40 auctioned again

You surely know the story of the Gas Monkey Garage Ferrari F40. That legendary Cavallino which the most famous workshop in Dallas, Texas (USA) not only brought back to life but also managed to tighten every bolt one more turn, giving rise to a piece as criticized as it is unique.

And we know that the popular TV show Fast N’Loud has turned the workshop’s activity, where “the monkeys” work almost nonstop to bring exclusive productions to life, into a full-blown media spectacle.

The biggest challenge seen on Fast N’Loud

In this way, the workshop led by the chameleonic Richard Rawlligns bought a wrecked 1991 Ferrari F40 in 2014 for 400,000 dollars. After many headaches, large doses of stress and many hours of work, the Gas Monkey Garage Ferrari F40 became the most popular of all the assembled cars.

But this media popularity did not generate as much interest among those looking to buy an “F-forty.” So much so that it reached an auction price of $742,500. An amount that practically only covered the purchase of the wreck, the labor cost of the workshop’s work and the parts included in the repair.

A year after its purchase, its former owner, Reggie Jackson, a baseball player, put the car up for sale again. On this occasion, the price dropped to around 650,000 dollars.

And once again, it changed hands. But less than two years ago this car also went through another episode of hardship: not only had it suffered a crash that nearly led to its being written off had it not been for the guys at Gas Monkey Garage, but in 2017 it was seized from its owner, Richard Scott, who was accused of fraud amounting to 13 million dollars and whose assets the court seized, among them the Gas Monkey Garage Ferrari F40.

The auction for the Gas Monkey Garage Ferrari F40

And so today at 18:00 the public auction through Apple Towing Co. concluded, which has once again put the Gas Monkey Garage Ferrari F40 on the market.

A public car auction available only online, in which a total of 118 bidders offered significant amounts for this Ferrari, the highest being the winner. The final price for the Fast N’Loud Ferrari F40 was 760,000 dollars.

Undoubtedly a significant amount, but it still shows that, for this modification that departed from the original specifications, it does not measure up to what is being offered for standard units that do approach or exceed one million euros.
