The Government is considering a Renove Plan for 2013

This headline should be taken with caution, but there are still reasons to be optimistic. As Soria has acknowledged, the idea of a new Renove Plan for 2013 is being considered, something that would undoubtedly relieve the car industry.
According to an interview he gave to Telemadrid, the Minister initially did not believe in this type of stimulus for the industry, but he will ultimately do everything possible to make it happen. Of course, it will depend on the economic situation next year.
“I found it hard to think that incentivising consumption would require an initial amount, but despite that observation, it was an effective plan that increased sales”
These were Soria’s words, acknowledging that a future Renove Plan may ultimately be effective in alleviating the current market situation, which will worsen considerably towards the end of the year with the VAT increase in just a few days.
Another curious detail from the interview is that Soria wants to find out how fuel prices are set, as he is alarmed by prices in Spain, where taxation is lower than in other countries but the pre-tax price is higher than in Europe. To this end, he will request a report from the Competition authority on fuel prices.
