The Honda electric S2000 could debut at the end of this year
The Honda electric S2000 could commemorate the brand’s 75th anniversary.

Rumours, rumours! Now more than ever, the Honda S2000 is back in the spotlight, and a new report claims that the sports car could debut at the end of this year with a fully electric powertrain mounted at the rear.
The Honda electric S2000 may be linked to the celebrations the brand is preparing for its 75th anniversary, which will arrive next autumn. It makes sense, since the Honda S2000 was born to commemorate the company’s 50th anniversary, so expectations are very high.
A specialist source has stated that Honda “will surprise the world with its first electric sports car” at the end of this year. The publication says the model will be developed on the company’s new platform called e:N and will be equipped with an electric motor placed at the rear.
An electric Honda S2000?

The rumours don’t stop there; a possible Type R variant of the electric Honda S2000 is also being speculated about. Kotaro Yamamoto of Honda has pointed out that “Type R means racing. It is the joy of driving. An electric car can offer this, and a Type R is not obliged to use a combustion engine.”
Perhaps this tells us nothing, but Honda has already announced two fully electric sports cars during the past year. These two models are included in the manufacturer’s plan for the period up to 2030, by which time Honda could have 30 100% electric models on the market.
At that point, the company did not say much about them, except that one is a “special” vehicle while the other is a “flagship” model. It is believed that the latter is the future Honda NSX, while the former is the rumoured revival of the S2000. If everything goes according to plan, we should learn more over the coming weeks.
