The Hyundai Genesis would have all-wheel drive but will not have a premium sub-brand
Hyundai’s US CEO hints that the Genesis could have all-wheel drive, although it will not be part of any premium brand.

John Krafcik, the CEO of Hyundai in the US, has dropped some quite interesting news for the future of the model, while also denying that the Genesis will be anything more than just another variant of the Hyundai lineup. Specifically, he has mentioned that there could be models with all-wheel drive, and he denied the announced creation of a premium sub-brand.
Krafcik has mentioned that the Genesis platform could easily have all-wheel drive, which would lead the brand and the model to broaden their horizons, leaving behind the rear-wheel drive that has characterized it. The Koreans believe the Genesis would be a good alternative to the Audi Quattro, BMW xDrive or Mercedes 4Matic.
The immediate consequence of the model’s growth in the US, a market that brings the most profits to Hyundai, has led to positioning the Genesis coupe as a tough competitor to beat in sales against the Infiniti G37 or the Nissan 370Z; sales are going very well, according to the aforementioned CEO, placing it between the two mentioned Nissan models, with more than 30,000 units sold.
Regarding the creation of the Genesis sub-brand as a premium division within Hyundai, the North American CEO has flatly dismissed these rumours, saying that it was indeed an option, but that for his part he categorically denies it.
