This weekend the Le Mans circuit will be filled with very special cars. From 4 to 6 July the Le Mans Classic takes place, where visitors will be able to see the first dynamic test of a car that aroused great interest at the Goodwood Festival of Speed 2014. The Jaguar F-TYPE Project 7, which we discussed in another article a few weeks ago, will be measured on the legendary circuit and, we are sure, will generate plenty of talk.

This limited-edition model is produced by Jaguar and SVO (Special Vehicle Operations), the special vehicles department of the British brand, and deliveries will begin next spring. But first, the company wants to show the world what it is capable of. And it will be no small thing, since this is the most powerful production car the company has ever built, and that is already something to take into account.

The roadster presented at this event uses a 5.0-litre V8 engine that delivers 575 CV and a maximum torque of 680 Nm. Its acceleration is timed at 3.9 seconds, the time it takes to go from standstill to 100 km/h, with a limited top speed of 300 km/h.

The reason this model is taking part in the Le Mans Classic is to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the launch of the Jaguar D-Type, which won at Le Mans on three occasions and has served as a source of inspiration for this more recent model. Alongside the F-TYPE Project 7, a unit of this classic and a varied selection of Jaguar F-TYPE R Coupé will complete the laps.

The race comprises six categories, covering the different chronological eras in the history of the legendary event. The Project 7 will not compete; instead it will be presented to the event’s audience before the qualifying sessions and the Category 2 race, which covers the models built between 1949 and 1956, in which both D-TYPE units do take part.

Initially, Jaguar had planned to build 250 units of this car, although its presence at Goodwood already caused a sensation and sales forecasts for these units were exceeded. We assume interest will grow after its appearance at Le Mans, so it is possible that a few more units will be built to meet demand. The approximate price of one of these cars will be around 170,000 euros.
