The Jeep Grand Cherokee receives an update, and what matters is under the hood

The Jeep models are undergoing changes. First it was the Cherokee, followed by the Grand Wagoneer. Now it is the turn of the Jeep Grand Cherokee, which has received changes both to its exterior and to its technology equipment. And, importantly, something has been added under the hood: a new engine that allows the model to offer more power and better characteristics.

The area that has received the most attention is the front fascia. It features a new design, with a seven-slot aerodynamic grille and completely redesigned headlights that enhance the model’s dynamic image. At the rear we find a redesigned bumper. As for available colours, the Copper Shino, Fathom Blue and Steel Blue are added to the range.

Changes can also be found inside the vehicle, with new features in the centre console and in the infotainment system display. It now reaches a size of 12.3 inches, replacing the previous two screens of 8.4 and 10.1 inches. There are also changes to the centre console, where physical switches can be seen.

Jeep has simplified its trim range and now offers the Laredo, Limited and Summit. However, the Grand Cherokee 4xe will include the Trailhawk trim level and will drop the Laredo trim. In addition, Jeep has confirmed that there will be a large number of packages with different finishes, so there is a wide variety of options for enjoying the model.

Some details present across the different trims

The base trim includes 18-inch wheels and chrome details. Several driver assistance systems are also added, such as automatic emergency braking, rear cross-traffic detection, blind-spot monitoring and active lane management.

The higher up the range we go, the more equipment we find. There is a dual-pane panoramic sunroof and a premium Alpine audio system with nine speakers. Interiors can be finished in Nappa or Palermo leather, covering heated, ventilated front seats with a massage function. An optional McIntosh audio system with 19 speakers is also available.

New engine

The model will continue to use the 3.6-litre Pentastar V6 engine, which produces 293 CV and 352 Nm of torque. However, some trims will feature the 2.0-litre Hurricane 4 Turbo engine, which offers excellent performance, raising both power and functionality.

Although we do not have much information about this engine, we know that it produces 324 CV and a peak torque of 450 Nm. The Grand Cherokee will offer a range of 814 kilometres and a towing capacity of 2,812 kg. Looking at the Grand Cherokee 4xe, this model will be fitted with a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine. The battery has a capacity of 17.3 kWh, and the eight-speed automatic gearbox features an integrated electric motor.

Combined power is 375 CV and engine torque is 637 Nm. The new Jeep Grand Cherokee will reach US dealerships at the end of 2025, so we will soon learn its specifications and when we can enjoy it in Europe.
