The Jeep Wrangler JK bids farewell to the market with two final special editions
The JK generation of the Jeep Wrangler has its days numbered in favour of the new JL generation, and it will bid farewell to everyone with two final special editions

We closed out 2017, which now seems a long way off, when the new JL generation of the Jeep Wrangler was unveiled at the Los Angeles Motor Show, a model that, after 11 years on the market without changes, urgently needed a renewal. Don’t get me wrong, mechanically there are few models that can even come close to it, but a renewal of its image towards a more modern look was necessary and, above all, the inclusion of new safety and infotainment technologies.
The JL generation is thus about to come out of the oven and begin its commercialisation, but for now the still-current JK generation is giving its final kicks. That is why, after more than two million units sold worldwide since 2006, Jeep wants its farewell to be grand, and to that end it has announced the arrival of the two final special editions that will close the chapter of the Wrangler JK: the Wrangler Golden Eagle and the Wrangler JK Edition.
Jeep Wrangler Golden Eagle
The Jeep Wrangler Golden Eagle is a somewhat special edition for the American brand, as it pays tribute to the legendary CJ-7 that was produced in the 1970s and 1980s, a model that was a revolution within Jeep by introducing important design changes. The main change applied involved a longer wheelbase, something that was due to the introduction of the automatic gearbox.

For the new Jeep Wrangler Golden Eagle a decoration has been used in which the grille is painted in the same colour as the rest of the bodywork, but bronze inserts have been added to its seven slots, a colour that also appears on the headlight surrounds and the logos. The wheel arches are painted the same as the bodywork, while the fuel cap has been chosen in black and the lower side protections from Mopar have been fitted. To finish off and give the edition its identity, an eagle decal has been placed on the bonnet and the inscription Golde Eagle on the side of the bonnet.
Turning to the interior, the seats use Sedoso fabric including the Golden Eagle logo and contrasting bronze stitching, contrasting stitching that has also been applied to the front armrests; while on the doors, the armrests incorporate McKinley vinyl upholstery and the grab handles have been modified. It features a Double Top, which includes the hard top in the bodywork colour and the new premium soft top in black. Finally, it is equipped with a CD/DVD/MP3 multimedia system with a 6.5-inch screen and Alpine sound system.
The Jeep Wrangler Golden Eagle will be available on the Spanish market with two- and four-door bodywork, as well as three body colours: Solid Black, Bright White and Granite Grey. It will be paired with the 3,600 cc petrol engine producing 284 CV and a five-speed automatic gearbox (this engine only for the four-door version), and on the diesel side, we will have the 2.8-litre engine and 200 CV with the same automatic gearbox. In Spain it will be available at dealerships from April.
Jeep Wrangler JK Edition
The Jeep Wrangler JK Edition will perhaps be the most exclusive of the two, as only 1,250 units will be built, available only in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Either way the idea is the same, and both will differ in their aesthetics while sharing the same equipment, so the final decision will be based mainly on each customer’s taste.

On the outside, you can choose between a white hard top with a rigid white spare-wheel cover, matching the white bodywork, or a body-coloured hard top with a black soft spare-wheel cover. There are also 18-inch all-terrain wheels, the Power Dome bonnet with air vents, silver inserts for the grille and headlight surrounds and, to finish, decals with the Wrangler JK legend in white on the sides of the bonnet.
Moving to the interior, the seats are upholstered in McKinley leather in black with contrasting stitching in Diesel Grey, also on the armrests. Silver makes an appearance on the vent inserts, the door grab handles and the front passenger grab handle. The same CD/DVD/MP3 multimedia system with the 6.5-inch screen and the Alpine sound system have also been fitted. All of this is finished off with a plate that identifies and certifies the unit number and the name of the edition.
Mechanically we find the same as in the previous edition: on one hand the 3.6-litre petrol engine with 284 CV and the five-speed automatic gearbox only for the 4-door version, and on the other the 2.8-litre diesel engine with 200 CV, also with the five-speed automatic gearbox. The Jeep Wrangler JK Edition will be available in both body styles and four exterior colours (Solid Black, Bright White, Chief Blue and Rhino), and will also reach Spanish dealerships from this month of April.
