The KIA EV3 will be just the first of a series of affordable electric models that the South Korean manufacturer plans to launch over the coming years

KIA already has almost everything ready to launch a new electric model onto the market this very summer, with which it aims to bring electric mobility to a larger number of customers. Three to present a first prototype during the EV Day held by the company last October, everything points to the debut of the production version of the EV3 taking place next July.

Describing the external appearance of this new compact SUV in words is not complicated, since if the EV5 is a scaled-down version of the seven-seat family SUV EV9, it is to be expected that the EV3 will also be a scaled-down version, but in this case of the first one. A compact SUV that is much more affordable than its siblings and aimed primarily at young customers who move around in urban environments.

The KIA EV3 will be the most affordable electric model in the manufacturer’s EV range, although we don’t know for how long. The KIA EV2 and EV4 are also on the way and should reach the market in the coming years. The company thus wants to make new electric models available to its customers that fall within a price range of between 20 and 50 thousand euros.

With the EV3, KIA will try to slow the strong start of the Volvo EX30’s sales

For now, the EV3 will arrive this coming summer with a price that should sit below 30 thousand euros for the base version. KIA’s intention is none other than to compete in this way with compact SUVs from other brands already available on the market, such as the Volvo EX30, whose sales seem to be going full steam ahead. To give it a sportier and more aggressive look, a GT Line version of this new EV3 is also expected, which among other changes would include a new front end.

Finally, it should be noted that although some recent reports claimed that KIA planned to launch new hybrid models, a decision that could be interpreted as a way of easing off the accelerator in the company’s transition towards electric mobility. The truth is that the company’s management seems to have a very clear view that the future is electric.

Following the expected launch of the EV3 this coming summer, 2025 will be the year of the EV4. As of today, however, it is unknown whether we will also see the EV5 in Europe. KIA has already been selling this model for some months in the Chinese market, where it is on sale from 149,800 yuan. Just under 20 thousand euros at the exchange rate.
