The launch of the EX30 gave a boost to Volvo's global sales last March
Before the end of the year, Volvo’s electric model range is set to expand with the arrival of the brand’s flagship, the EX90, and the EM90 MPV
The Swedish manufacturer, currently under the control of the Chinese automotive giant Geely, managed to deliver a total of 78,970 vehicles to the global market last March. This represents a 25 percent increase over the same month last year. In this way, total sales during the first quarter of the year reached 182,687 vehicles, twelve percent more than in the same period of 2023.
The growth in the company’s total vehicle sales was also accompanied by an increase in plug-in vehicles, whether battery electric or plug-in hybrids. According to the data released by Volvo, last March 33,558 units with a plug were sold, 24 percent more than in March 2023. This accounts for 42.5 percent of total sales.

With more than 8,600 units sold, the new EX30 became the best-selling model in the entire Volvo lineup last March. This figure could, however, have been even higher, as the company is currently scaling up production of this urban electric SUV, which has become the company’s key objective for the coming months.
To put the success of the EX30 last March into perspective, its 8,681 units sold exceed the cumulative sales figure for this same model over the previous four months.
Volvo’s electric vehicles continue to gain share of total sales month after month
In total, Volvo sold 18,021 fully electric vehicles last March, 43 percent more than in the same month last year. Fully electric vehicle sales thus accounted for 22.8 percent of the total. Following the same trend, the brand’s plug-in hybrid sales also grew, though to a lesser extent, with 15,537 vehicles sold and an 8 percent increase over the same month last year.

Following the presentation of these results, Björn Annwal, the brand’s current Head of Sales, took the opportunity to highlight that, in his view, these sales figures prove that the company’s strategy is the right one. Offering our customers an increasingly broad range of electric vehicles alongside plug-in hybrid and mild hybrid models is the right combination, he concluded.
