The Kia GT could reach Europe in 2016 and the Kia GT4 Stinger in 2017

Kia GT
There is already talk that we will soon have the production version of the Kia GT in European dealerships. Well, it doesn’t look like it will happen immediately, but 2016 is being considered as the year this car will start its journey in the European market and carve out a place in this range. It is a car that could rival the Mercedes CLS63 AMG, with a lower price and similar performance.

The four-door coupé based on the concept we saw at the Paris Motor Show could already be finished on the design table, with a definitive look and ready to go into production in its final form. This production version will have a full diesel and petrol engine line-up to meet the demand of all possible interested buyers.

If this information is correct, we could have the first images of this car within a few months, getting ready to receive it eagerly within a year or so. Among the leaked details are those of the four- and six-cylinder engines, including a new two-litre diesel. The top version of the range would feature a V8 engine.

The model is designed to be appealing in both the American and European markets, so it has elements intended to work in either one.

It is not the only Kia prototype that could soon reach dealerships, as the Kia GT4 Stinger could also be ready for production. This one is less likely, since there is still no confirmation, but it is a personal bet by Peter Schreyer, Hyundai-Kia head of design.

In principle it would be built on the platform that Kia will use for the next generation of the Genesis Coupé, which it already has prepared. If so, the GT4 Stinger could have a 2+2 seating configuration, seeking to be the direct competition for the Toyota GT86 and Subaru BRZ, which would be its direct rivals.

All of this, I repeat, should be taken with caution, although as always, time will confirm or deny these launches. But for now, there’s no harm in dreaming about these two cars, right?
