The Kia Soul confirms its electric variant

Hyundai and Kia have been very active when it comes to alternative mobility. While Hyundai has devoted itself to researching everything related to hydrogen vehicles, Kia has taken on the task of investigating how they can more easily adapt electric motors for their models. The result will be visible next year, as they confirm they are preparing an electric version of the Soul.

We will no longer see the Kia Soul on our roads, following the news that Kia has discontinued it in Spain due to its weak sales response. However, the Korean brand will turn the small city car into a global model that will be sold in other markets, including Asia, Europe and the USA.

According to the data we have at hand, the new electric version will carry a 68-horsepower motor that would give it a respectable range of around 200 kilometres and will replace the current Kia Ray in Asia. This range and a top speed of 140 km/h, together with strong acceleration thanks to its constant peak torque, will make it an interesting option, with performance that is superior to the Ray.

And speaking of prices, it is well known that the high prices charged for electric cars are a problem for better acceptance among the public. According to the sources we consulted, the new electric Soul would be sold in Asia for the equivalent of 28,000 euros, before subsidies. The price does not seem excessively high compared with the competition and may not be the final one, but we will have to wait for further news throughout the year.
