The Mercedes Class A gets three new versions

Mercedes-Benz Clase A 45 AMG 4MATIC

The Mercedes Class A sold in Spain has shown strong appeal, with sustained sales. And although the state of the Spanish industry is not exactly cause for celebration, Mercedes-Benz continues to add new features to its entry-level model, this time with the arrival of three new variants: the A180 BE Edition, A250 4MATIC and A 45 AMG 4MATIC.

Below the A 200 BlueEFFICIENCY sits the A180 BlueEFFICIENCY Edition, which delivers 122 hp from its 1.6 engine, with slightly improved consumption of 5.2 l/100 km and emissions of 120 g/km. These emissions place it below the other 180 version, which means it is exempt from registration tax, a significant advantage for the entry-level model in the range. This version will be on sale from €27,190.

The Class A 250 BlueEFFICIENCY will add a new variant with the arrival of the A250 4MATIC. This new version features four-wheel drive “4MATIC”, retaining the 2.0-litre turbocharged engine producing 211 hp. This version will be on sale for €38,000.

Finally, the Class A will add a more powerful top version to the Spanish range than the current A250 Sport. This is the A 45 AMG 4MATIC, which raises power to 260 hp while keeping all-wheel drive. As a performance model, the acceleration figures homologated by Mercedes are among the most impressive, no less than 4.6 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h, if the dual-clutch transmission is left in Race Start mode.

For this latter model, AMG incorporates some of its own elements, such as the “AMG Drive Unit” dynamic configuration, AMG sport parametric steering with speed-variable assistance, AMG sport suspension, ventilated and drilled AMG brake discs front and rear, and tuner accessories and alloy wheels. Its price will be €54,750, with several options, including the Edition 1, with special body colours and 19-inch wheels.
