At New York Fashion Week, a variant of the future Kia Telluride was on show, one that American designer Brandon Maxwell has worked on

The Kia Telluride is one of the models from the Korean brand designed to enter the tough market for large SUVs in the United States. The version of the seven-seat SUV of Kia presented these days was staged at New York Fashion Week, so it was to be expected that it would be dressed with the help of one of the fashion designers involved in this major fashion event. The chosen designer has been Brandon Maxwell, and the images you can see are the result of the collaboration between the designer and the brand.

The Kia Telluride will debut next January at the North American International Auto Show as the 2020 model, but it has already been seen at this event, with a look that the brand wants to place in its more off-road appearance. Admittedly, with style and a higher category. Obviously, this is a modified version that will not reach the market. At least, not at first.

The Kia Telluride proposed by Brandon Maxwell has a modified bumper, an exhaust pipe raised above the bonnet for fording rivers, lights to see in the darkness of the thickest forest, larger wheel arches, specific rims for this version, and a spare wheel installed on the tailgate so that it does not take up space inside the car. In addition, a ladder offers simple, practical access to the roof rack.

As is usual with this type of version created by fashion designers, it is in the interior where the designer’s efforts have been concentrated. Various wood inserts give a more elegant touch to the cabin, alongside the leather that covers the seats. The colour of the leather is also present on the door handles, giving continuity to the decor.

The collaboration between Maxwell and Kia comes from the designer’s childhood, since for him the brand is important because his mother used to drive him to school in a Kia Sedona. This has created a bond between the designer and the brand, which has carried over into this Kia Telluride that he has designed to offer a preview of the model.
