The Lamborghini Aventador on Top Gear

The final episode of season 17 of Top Gear featured Richard Hammond’s road test of the Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4. The Aventador was one of the cars I was most eager to see on the runways of Dunsfold Aerodrome, and the results have been much better than I expected.

Hammond is impressed by the abilities of this supercar. The power, the acceleration and its handling are at a level never seen before in Lamborghini. Without a doubt, it is the best of all time. But there is something that falls short…

Indeed, the Aventador lacks the killer, cruel and homicidal instinct of its predecessors, the Countach or the Diablo for example. It is a far more usable vehicle, more pleasant in everyday driving, very…Audi. That moves it away from the original spirit of the bull brand and brings it closer to the civilised world to which the rest of the cars belong.

However, these are only the tester’s impressions, although in some way they are confirmed by the time set on the Top Gear circuit. You will see it in the video, but I didn’t expect it.
