The “Legend” series of limited editions of the Bugatti Veyron will come to an end at Pebble Beach next week. The version tasked with closing it will be one dedicated to the manufacturer’s founder, Ettore Bugatti. Three units will be built, and each will be sold for a price in excess of €2.2 million. The other five editions will also be shown at the Californian event.

Like the other versions in the series, the Veyron Ettore Bugatti is based on the Grand Sport Vitesse, and its exterior design is inspired by the Bugatti Type 41 Royale, the first unit of which was not delivered until 1932 and of which only six were built. Other features of this Veyron’s styling include the already familiar wheels with five double spokes in a chrome finish and five other single spokes painted in diamond black, as well as the Ettore Bugatti signature engraved on the fuel filler cap.

In the cabin there is an upholstery made of two types of leather, several carbon fibre inserts painted blue and a platinum reproduction of the dancing elephant that symbolised the famous sculpture by Rembrandt Bugatti, brother of Ettore, and which also crowned the grille of the Type 41. This edition also features a plaque on the lower door sills bearing a portrait of Ettore Bugatti and his signature, together with the name of the series.

The version confirms that the Veyron is nearing the end of its lifecycle. Sources at Bugatti recently stated that 405 units have already been produced, there are another thirty firm orders, and it is planned that a total of 450 will be built, meaning only fifteen remain to bid farewell to the supercar.
