The Lexus UX 300e restructures its range and introduces aesthetic and technological updates

Last year, the fully electric version of the UX joined the Lexus lineup, a model that plays an important role in the electrification strategy the brand is pursuing, as demonstrated by the fact that, very shortly after its presentation, the entire range, including the UX 300e, received a significant update in terms of technology and equipment.

At that time, the UX 300e received specific technological changes affecting its 54.3 kWh battery, which only gave it a range of 315 km on the WLTP cycle, leaving it behind its direct rivals. It was then fitted with a 72.8 kWh battery, which increased the range up to 450 km on the WLTP cycle, now matching its rivals. In addition, the time to charge from 0 to 80% using DC fast charging was reduced from 80 to 60 minutes.

There were also other technological changes in the interior, with touchscreens installed for the infotainment system, available in 8-inch or 12.3-inch sizes. For the 2024 update, Lexus is also continuing to add new screens, but this time for the instrument cluster: optionally, a customisable 12.3-inch screen can be installed, which can also change the information it displays depending on the selected driving mode and is presented in a more intuitive way. As standard, the Lexus UX 300e will continue to feature a 7-inch screen, but now fully digital, displaying information in a way that enhances the user experience.

The arrival of new technology in the Lexus UX 330e has also led the brand to renew the range of trim levels available for this model, which are now called e-UX, e-UX+, e-RELAX and e-RELAX+. This has also meant that the brand has opted for new textures for the decorative interior trim, among which, incidentally, there is no trace of the “piano black” finish that has performed so poorly in any brand. On the exterior, the UX 330e’s colour palette is expanded with a new Copper Petra body colour.

In terms of safety, with this update the Lexus UX 300e also receives the Lexus Safety System + third generation, with new features including the Proactive Driving Assist (PDA), which detects low-speed urban risks such as pedestrians about to cross or walking on the shoulder, as well as parked vehicles and cyclists. Automatic rear emergency lights are now activated at high speed if a risk of collision with a vehicle approaching from behind is detected. It also incorporates Safe Exit Assist, which, linked to the door handles, helps prevent collisions with vehicles approaching from behind when a door is opened or occupants are exiting. Finally, the steering wheel now incorporates the Facial Driver Monitor function, which, if it detects driver fatigue or discomfort and the driver does not respond to alerts, activates the Driver Emergency Stop, bringing the vehicle to a controlled stop and activating the hazard lights.

Lexus has confirmed that the updated UX 300e will start at a price of 51,500 euros for the e-UX trim, the e-UX+ trim starts from 52,500 euros, while the e-RELAX trim starts from 57,500 euros and, finally, the e-RELAX+ trim starts from 61,500 euros.
