The list of candidate drivers for Formula E keeps growing

The Formula E that will get underway next September continues to take shape. The organisers of this championship have already closed the calendar and the list of teams, so these teams must decide which drivers will take the controls of their single-seaters from a list of candidates that keeps growing.
In the first season of this championship there will be 10 teams that will need a total of 20 drivers. For the moment, the Audi Sport ABT team has already confirmed Daniel Abt and Lucas Di Grassi as its race drivers, while the others will have to choose from a list that includes many familiar faces from Formula 1 and also a good dose of Spanish flavour, since 5 drivers from our country have signed up for the so-called Drivers’ Club.
Jaime Alguersuari, Agustín Payá, Dani Clos, Andy Soucek and Oriol Serviá are the Spanish drivers on the list, which already has 40 names and shares them with many drivers who, with greater or lesser success, have passed through Formula 1, ranging from veterans such as Jarno Trulli or Nick Heidfeld to others whose stints were shorter or less notable, such as Jerome d’Ambrosio, Sebastien Buemi, Vitantonio Liuzzi, Narain Karthikeyan or Karun Chandhok.
Some of the drivers are already veterans who could find in this championship a place to keep racing and contributing their experience, without thinking any longer about a possible return to F1. Other young drivers, however, would still have the chance to return to the big circus, and this could be the showcase that helps them draw the attention of team bosses again, although reaching Formula 1 is becoming ever more difficult.
This is the list of drivers who today make up the Drivers’ Club:
