The longest sea bridge in the world

Last year, information about the construction of this bridge over the waters of the East China Sea was covered by various media, and its completion was all that was awaited.
Yesterday, the Hangzhou Bay Bridge was inaugurated; however, it will not be fully operational until June, when all the facilities have finished being installed.
The main purpose of the bridge is to reduce the travel distance between Shanghai’s main port and Ningbo, whose commercial activity greatly benefits the Asian country.
At an approximate cost of 1,087 million euros at current exchange rates, the bridge is 36 km long, has six lanes and allows traffic to flow at an average speed of 120 km/h.
Designed to last a hundred years, its structure can withstand the typhoons that affect the area, since it was built with the highest-strength steel in three years and is one of the most demanding construction projects undertaken in China.
