The MAT New Stratos will arrive at the Geneva Motor Show to present a version with a manual gearbox

Last year the New Stratos was presented at the Geneva Motor Show, and this edition will serve to present a manual-gearbox version to entice buyers

The previous edition of the Geneva Motor Show was the chosen venue to present the New Stratos, a model that revives the veteran name and is based on the body and mechanics of a Ferrari 430 Scuderia. The manufacturer Manifattura Automobili Torino (MAT) has decided to revive the model and, for this, uses this Ferrari as its basis, transforming it into something completely different and giving it a different shape. Admittedly, although there are elements incorporated to bring about this aesthetic transformation, the spirit of the Ferrari 430 Scuderia is still present, and to the eyes of an expert the base on which it has been built is clearly visible.

Although the model was initially going to be fitted with an automatic transmission, at this year’s Geneva Motor Show a unit equipped with a manual gearbox will be presented. In this way, buyers of the New Stratos will be able to optionally choose this type of transmission for their car. An option that may lower the car’s price on the market, although only slightly.

New Stratos, the supercar that takes over the body of a Ferrari

The New Stratos uses the body of the Ferrari 430 Scuderia, so a very high production volume cannot be expected. In fact, only 25 units will be built, of which the first two are already on their way to their owners. The unit number 001 will be delivered to a German buyer, while the second will cross the Atlantic to reach the garage of an American.

The price they paid is not known, but we do know that the conversion of a Ferrari 430 Scuderia costs 500,000 euros, so the purchase figure will be considerably higher. The New Stratos loses 10 mm of wheelbase, but gains in elegance and a more spectacular design. The arrival of the New Stratos with a manual gearbox may mean that MAT is encouraged to launch the high-performance Safari variant and the track version New Stratos GT, which it announced a year ago but for which it has yet to offer any data or images. Either way, this is a supercar that impresses in its basic version, and we really love it.
