Mercedes-Benz posted a new video about the AMG GT on its YouTube channel the day before yesterday. It presents data and figures on the tests the upcoming sports car has undergone, which have stretched over 32 months. The vehicle has had to endure temperatures from -30 °C to 50 °C, and fifty drivers have been tasked with pushing it to its limits during its development.

However, the most interesting thing is that the video also confirms that the AMG GT will be available in two versions with different power outputs. The one we already know is the one that will be equipped with the four-litre M178 twin-turbo engine, which produces 510 horsepower. Its definitive name will be AMG GT-S, a letter that Mercedes-Benz already uses on other models such as the CLS to distinguish the most powerful versions from the rest.

This variant will be joined by a cheaper one whose engine will generate 462 CV. The video does not reveal the identity of this engine, but Mercedes-Benz Passion claims it will be the same M178 that powers it. To tell whether it is an AMG GT or an AMG GT-S, you will have to look at the size of the front air intakes and the number of exhaust outlets: two in the entry-level version and four in the most powerful one.

The Mercedes-AMG GT will be unveiled first on 9 September, and then shown to the public in October at the Paris Motor Show. With these two variants, the new sports car from the silver star will be better equipped to take on the Porsche 911 and company.
