The Mercedes EQA will be a small electric crossover and will rival the BMW i3 and the Volkswagen ID.3

Mercedes-Benz opened a new path with the arrival of the EQC, the first member of the EQ family and the first vehicle from the brand to use a fully electric drive system. However, this was the beginning of a new era coming to the German house, which continued with the EQV. But Mercedes-Benz is willing to go much further, which is why the next vehicle to belong to this new dynasty will be the EQA, a compact crossover that will go head to head with models such as the BMW i3 or the newly presented Volkswagen ID.3.

The star brand plans to offer a parallel range of 100% electric vehicles, which will take on the same roles as the combustion models but using a drive technology far more committed to the environment.

Given that this new kind of mobility is taking off remarkably well in the compact segment, it is not unusual for Mercedes to have decided to bet on a vehicle aimed more at the urban world. For now, few details are known about the EQA, other than that it will arrive over the course of next year and will feature a series of solutions set to mark a before and after within the brand.

It is true that the EQA concept showed a strong resemblance to the current A-Class, only with much cleaner and smoother lines. Not surprisingly, and although we assumed the production version would follow a similar path, Mercedes says its next electric vehicle will enter the crossover segment, using the newly presented GLA as its starting point.

In terms of design, we can expect a vehicle with similar features, where thin, elongated front headlights will provide that futuristic look so characteristic of the latest Mercedes. The same feeling will be present in the cabin, an area dominated by two large screens of up to 10.25 inches capable of housing all kinds of functions.

In terms of mechanics, we can expect different power levels in order to reach more customers, but a maximum range capable of approaching 400 kilometres. For now, the arrival date is unknown, but everything points to the German brand taking advantage of its appearance at the Geneva Motor Show to present this new electric vehicle in grand style.
