Up! Volkswagen Electric Cars Urban
The Volkswagen e-up!, the most affordable electric car from Volkswagen, is on offer
Volkswagen continues to bet on electric mobility with the e-up!, its most affordable electric car, which is now on offer for 340 euros a month.

Electric vehicles are causing quite a stir, both for better and for worse, since their advantages over combustion models attract as much as their high price on the current market generates rejection. Volkswagen, aware of this, has not only sought to put an end to it by promising an ID.3 with an entry price of less than 30,000 euros, but also through the e-up! And the truth is that the most affordable electric car from the German brand is not only one of the cheapest options on the market, it is also now on offer for 344 euros/month.
In this way, the people from Wolfsburg aim to encourage the purchase of a car that relies on a type of mobility that is booming but has not yet fully taken off due to certain aspects. With this premise, Volkswagen wants to make its e-up! a versatile, accessible electric vehicle capable of coping with the city on a daily basis.
What do we get with this offer on the Volkswagen e-up!?
As always, offers tend to be tied to a specific vehicle, and in this case it is no different. Although Volkswagen is still in the process of establishing its range of electric options, its most affordable vehicle comes with different equipment levels in order to satisfy a wider number of customers.

The offer we are looking at today applies to the plain e-up!, leaving the Style, the top-of-the-range trim, to be associated with a more expensive one. If we opt for this one, we find an e-up! that comes as standard with a CCS charging socket, a mode 3 type 2 32 A charging cable and “Climatronic” air conditioning, among other things.
Mechanically, we find the only option available within the e-up! range from Volkswagen. That is, a 61 kW electric motor -equivalent to 83 CV- and 210 Nm of torque, figures complemented by a range of 260 kilometres on the WLTP cycle thanks to a 32 kWh battery. Its top speed is limited to 130 km/h, and the estimated time to reach 80% of the battery using a wallbox is 4 hours, a time that drops to 1 hour if we use CCS fast charging, compatible with up to 40 kW of power.
But what does the fine print of this Volkswagen e-up! offer say?
No matter how tempting an offer or a discount may seem, we should always check the fine print to avoid unpleasant surprises. In the case of the most basic Volkswagen e-up!, the German manufacturer allows us to get it for a monthly instalment of 340 euros/month, but, what other costs will we have to face?

Volkswagen assures that no deposit will be required, so we will simply start making the agreed payment. To be more specific, there will be 48 monthly instalments of 340 euros, the equivalent of 16,320 euros; although we will always have to take interest into account, which is not reflected in the fine print of this offer. The agreed annual mileage will be 10,000 kilometres, and this offer is not valid with other financial institutions and will be available until 31/12/2019.
What other options are there on the market?
Over time, the electric vehicle sector has been welcoming more and more segments, which means it is no longer such an elitist area of the automotive industry, within reach of only a few. Although the general price of electric vehicles is high, Volkswagen has tried to lower it with the e-up!.

Currently, there are few options in the same segment at a similar price, with the SEAT Mii Electric and the Skoda Citigoe iV being the closest vehicles. If we want to look at more distant competition, we can always turn to Renault, which offers among its options the Zoe, with a 108 CV motor and 225 Nm of torque in its most modest variant and a range of 386 kilometres on the WLTP cycle, all for a starting price of 21,667 euros.
