The Mercedes EQT Marco Polo is seen in an almost complete form ahead of its series production

We have already told you a few things about the Mercedes EQT Marco Polo, the concept vehicle that aims to be an electric camper van. The official presentation took place on December 2nd and series production is expected to begin during the second half of 2023. The order book will open in a few months, and this camper vehicle, which aims to revolutionize the micro-camper market, can already be reserved.

The Marco Polo module for the EQT will allow this electric van to become an excellent option for going camping outdoors with a zero-emission vehicle. The additions to the Mercedes EQT elevate the van’s category, taking it from its form as a commercial vehicle to becoming a motorhome that is very comfortable, although small in size.

Camper equipment

The first thing you can see in the new Mercedes EQT Marco Polo is the pop-up roof tent. It includes a mattress measuring 1.97 x 0.97 meters. It opens with a hydraulic scissor system and, thanks to its two opening systems, it can be opened completely or only at the rear. With the first option, it gives occupants a greater sense of freedom while sleeping. With the second, privacy is guaranteed.

At the rear there is also a sleeping area, which is folded away until it is needed and offers dimensions of 2 x 1.15 meters. In the second row of seats there is a module that includes a 16-liter compressor fridge and a built-in sink. At the back there is a module containing two cooking appliances. One with an induction hob and the other with a gas burner, so the user can choose whichever they prefer.

There is also a folding table that can be adjusted via an electric system. There are other storage areas that allow you to carry everything needed for a weekend in the countryside, so the Mercedes EQT becomes a practical camper vehicle. However, all of this furniture can be removed within a few minutes, so it can also be used as an everyday vehicle.

Quality materials and LED lighting

The materials used are of good quality and, to give a more refined finish, LED lighting in various shapes has been installed inside the vehicle. It also features up to seven USB ports. One of them is in the area of the folding roof and two in the rear living area.

In addition, the Mercedes EQT Marco Polo features a solar panel that recharges the auxiliary battery, which ensures the vehicle’s range is not reduced by energy use during camping. This battery is located in a drawer in the rear module, but it can be removed to be charged from a standard socket.

Powertrain and battery

The Mercedes EQT is equipped with a motor that delivers 90 kW, equivalent to 122 CV and offers a maximum torque of 245 Nm. The lithium-ion battery has a capacity of 45 kWh. It can be charged at AC charging points of up to 22 kW. It also comes with a cable for DC charging with a power of up to 80 kW. In this case, charging from 0 to 80% of battery capacity takes 38 minutes.
