Mercedes has announced that it will be at the Shanghai Motor Show where it presents the GLB concept car, the vehicle tasked with previewing the future SUV from the German brand.

Some time ago we saw a series of camouflaged Mercedes previewing a vehicle that did not fit any model in the German brand’s range. Everything pointed to it being the GLB, a future SUV that will be based on the B-Class and will take various design cues used in the development of the G-Class. However, Mercedes has decided to take a step ahead and premiere the concept car used to create the GLB, showing us its interior before its imminent debut at the Shanghai Motor Show, since China is one of the main markets for the German brand.

For now, the star brand has revealed little information, but the prototype itself will give us many of the details meant to shape this upcoming new offspring. However, Mercedes has chosen to save everything for the Shanghai Motor Show, and that is why it has only offered us one image of its revealing cabin.

At first glance we find certain features that are already common in the brand’s latest additions. An imposing dual screen runs across the dashboard to power the instrument cluster and the infotainment system, something we have also seen in the latest-generation A-Class and B-Class, two models with which this GLB will share countless elements.

It is true that the steering wheel has a more futuristic design than those found on production models, but we can make out the buttons that the latest Mercedes models are adopting. At the same time, the center console is governed by the trackpad that lets us navigate the infotainment system and that appears in other vehicles from the brand.

At the same time, Mercedes has stated that this GLB will be a vehicle of considerable dimensions and with the capacity to seat up to seven passengers. In this way, we can expect that this feature will also be reflected in the production model, leading this model to draw on elements seen in both the G-Class and the GLS.

On April 15th Mercedes will let the whole world enjoy, live, the presentation of the GLB at the Shanghai Motor Show. At the same time, one day later we will be able to see this concept car from different angles, a vehicle that will be a faithful reflection of the future SUV from the German brand.
