The MINI Cooper SE will enter spring with new design and equipment details

From next spring, the electric MINI Cooper SE will receive the MINI Electric Collection edition, with aesthetic changes and improved equipment

With the MINI Cooper SE, we have fully entered the world of all-electric vehicles, a model we had the chance to test last spring, and which surprised us pleasantly thanks to the fun it still delivers when you get behind the wheel. Precisely so that it remains just as fun, but this time visually as well, MINI is proposing a series of aesthetic and equipment improvements for the Cooper SE arriving in March.

With the new MINI Electric Collection edition, we can see how its front end changes slightly and, in a way, eliminates that look which at all times suggested we were looking at an electric car, now adopting a more open grille much more similar to that of a combustion model, framed by a trim in Piano Black that reaches down to the lowest part of the bumper. That color, incidentally, is also applied to the frames of the front headlights. On the sides of the bumper, the fog lights now disappear, making way for discreet air intakes.

The Piano Black finish is not found only on the front, as you can see it is also present on the MINI logos, the mirror housings, the 17-inch wheels, the rear light cluster, the door handles and the side badges. This creates a perfect contrast with the Island Blue metallic paint, available for the first time on the Cooper SE. Alternatively, within the MINI Electric Collection edition we will also have the Rooftop Grey metallic finish, both of which can be combined with the multi-tone roof with a gradient running from San Marino Blue, through Pearly Aqua, to Jet Black.

But the MINI Electric Collection edition will not only include aesthetic changes; everyone who opts for this variant will also benefit from expanded equipment. In this way, we can find items such as:

  • LED headlights with matrix function for high beam.
  • Door sill finishers with the MINI Electric logo printed on them.
  • Sport seats upholstered in a combination of fabric and leather in Light Grey.
  • Inserts in the MINI Yours Aluminium finish.
  • Anthracite roof lining.
  • Sport steering wheel upholstered in Nappa leather.
  • Connected Navigation package.
  • Driver Assistance Plus package.
  • Lane departure warning with steering wheel vibration alert.
  • Active cruise control with Stop & Go function.

Where there are no changes is in the mechanical part, where we will still find the electric motor delivering 184 CV of power together with 270 Nm of torque, which, linked to the 32.6 kWh lithium-ion battery, allows it to homologate a range of 234 km under the WLTP test cycle. The battery can be charged in three and a half hours to 100% of its capacity with 11 kW of power, although with the optional wallbox that time can be reduced by one hour to reach 80% of its capacity.
