The Model Y is coming soon
Production of the Tesla Model Y will begin next year in the state of Nevada
This has been confirmed by the top executive of Tesla, who no longer holds the title of CEO but still acts as if he did: Elon Musk. It was the controversial magnate himself who gave the go-ahead for production of the brand’s next electric car, the Tesla Model Y.
The Tesla Model Y is an enigmatic model about which very few details are known. For example, we know it will be linked to the Tesla Model 3, as both models will share the same architecture, since they will be built on the same platform.
The Tesla crossover
This leads us to believe that the range of the Tesla Model Y will be around 540 km, the same reference figure as the Tesla Model 3 itself. At the same time, given the structure and construction of the electric compact saloon, we understand that the dimensions of the new Tesla will be closer to a saloon than to the Tesla Model X.
We mention this Tesla Model X because the Tesla Model Y is expected to be a crossover or, at least, a derivative of the Tesla Model 3 with ambitions to be a crossover.
In fact, it was in 2018 that, thanks to a video the manufacturer uploaded to its YouTube channel, we were able to understand the size and configuration of this enigmatic model.

The Tesla Model Y will be assembled in Nevada
A car that will be manufactured entirely in Nevada. Tesla currently has two factories in the USA: one in Nevada itself, known as the Gigafactory, and another in California. It is in the former where, until now, the car’s electric drive units have been produced. Both the motor and the batteries are built in Nevada. In California, on the other hand, the bodywork, the chassis and the electrical equipment coming from Nevada are assembled.
With the Tesla Model Y this will not happen. This car will be produced from start to finish at the Gigafactory. This will avoid transporting parts, which will eliminate transport delays and also save the costs derived from moving components between Tesla’s manufacturing plants.

The construction process of the Tesla Model Y will begin in 2020. Therefore, we expect that in 2019 itself we will see the prototypes and vehicles close to the production version.
Since we already know the sale price in Spain of the Tesla Model 3 and, previously, that of the Tesla Model X, we can estimate that the Tesla Model Y will fall somewhere between the two. In other words, the price of the Tesla Model Y could be close to 75,000 euros.
